Stop Defending Resident Evil 5!

I’m tired of seeing all these fools defending Resident Evil 5 with classic quotes like ” The only people who will complain with the control system are those who are not truly Resident Evil fans. ” or “Fans of the original series would know that the it wouldn’t let you run and shoot.” and “If you had a gun what would you do, would you run and shoot or stand and shoot. People stand still, crouch prone or shoot.”    This is going to be easy…

Top 10 GoW MP Killers

Ah. Our beloved Gears.  The most played game in our household. The game that kept us up all night. The game that had my fiancee hooked on video games. So naturally, I did what any Gears fan would do, I went out and bought the  Gears Of War Life-Sized Lancer and pre ordered the game. Little did I know that the game we loved would turn out to be as worthless as a bucket of shit.

Here are the top 10 things that kept us screaming at the top of our lungs in disgust, lunging our controllers at our HDTVs in pure rage when tackling the beast known as Gears Of War 2.

10. No “Quit” option when playing multiplayer matches

Maybe someone at Epic should have realized that we still can go to dashboard whenever we please and ofcourse we have the glorious power button.  Matches usually go like this : 5 on 5, vote on game type, vote on map, 1 person doesnt like the results and leaves before hes penalized for quitting mid-match, this leaves a lopsided 4-5 game which is totally unwinnable by the less fortunate team. “No Quit” is like walking into McDonald’s, ordering the a triple heart attack with super sized fries and a  Diet Coke. 93 Hours 02 Minutes 08 Seconds

What you’re looking at is the time I’ve spent on Fallout 3. I The crazy thing is I still want more even though I reached the level cap 30 hours ago. This game is crazy sick, it will pull you in and won’t let go, not that you struggle either because it’s fucking incredible exploring a nuclear war-torn Washington D.C. in search of your father while dealing with what comes at you (and trust me, oh comes at you it does!) in such a  variety of ways. You can either A. help B. rob C. help-then rob D.blow-the-brains out of anyone/anything in this game! I havent felt this much freedom since GTA3(flamesuitON), which is why this its already my pick for Game Of The Year.

Playstation Home Review: Not Quite Time To Come Home

The upcoming release of PlayStation Home has been a strange ride filled with an odd mixture of hype, major delays, and jokes regarding its release that has only been surpassed by Duke Nukem Forever. However, the time has finally come, and with the impending release of PlayStation Home tomorrow, it’s time that we perform the public service no one else seems to have the balls to do yet and let you know what to expect with an honest review.

PlayStation Home was supposed to be the rival to Nintendo’s Mii and Microsoft’s NXE; an amazing online community which built on the foundation of the surprisingly popular Second Life and either matched the experience or brought it to the next level. After having spent weeks with the PlayStation Home closed beta, it’s safe to say that the home experience does neither; in fact, it completely underachieves. 2k9 Finally Patched!

Just got home from work (yes..I have a real job!) to find out that the infamous NBA2K9 has been finally fucking patched!

Let me remind everyone why this is such a big deal….for the past 5-6 years(?) 2K Sports have made NBA2K THE basketball series of choice for anyone who calls themselves a videogame basketball fan. Ever since the Dreamcast I’ve been in love with the series, great graphics, awesome mix between sim/arcade and the best animations in any sports game PERIOD.

Enter NBA2K9, I rented it from Gamefly after waiting patiently for a year only to find out that the game was SUPER-GIMPED. No 2K camera option (a camera view made famous by the series), framerate issues, several game crushing bugs and worst of all the online part of the game (the meat and potatoes) blew dragon balls since you couldnt  connect to anyone 70% of the time.  Also 2K Sports decided in all their infinite wisdom that it was best to remove the option for players to set up ranked matches on their own and instead opted for a random opponent type of thing, this left countless players up in arms on their forums including me, I quickly returned it back to Gamefly because it was a waste of my time.

Whats wrong with Netflix + Xbox360?

A couple of months ago upon hearing about the planned integration of Netflix streaming movies directly into your tv through your 360 I was pumped!

As I previously discussed with Los I believed that this was the future of movie watching, you sit down, browse through every movie ever made, press a button and the movie will automatically start playing. Way faster than driving over to Blockbuster and picking out a movie, also faster than getting up off your couch, selecting a movie from your library and popping it into the dvd player, an ease of use which is what made MP3s so popular (besides downloading for free ofcourse).

Then I fired up the Netflix…

Morning Rundown:

From now on during the weekdays, I plan to run through the morning’s gaming news from various websites (joystiq.com, n4g.com, etc.) since its a bit of a hassle reading through all the lame news and worthless posts.

Here goes nothing:

Joystiq.com
Playstation 3 Street Fighter II HD priced at $14.99

What is Capcom smoking? Don’t get me wrong I’m a fan of Capcom and Street Fighter, but with SFIV out in just a few months how can they possibly think that 15 bucks is the right price for this? I think that I’ll be passing on this one.

Gamestop assimilates $1.7 billion in Q3 sales

Dont even get me started on Gamestop, I don’t think I’ve ever had a decent shopping experience which is why I don’t buy my games there…like…ever! You plunk down your $62.23 for what you think is a brand new shiny game, but instead the clerk says “I’ll be right back” preceeded by the slow death march to the store’s shelves to grab a dusty cover with about 4-5 dirty price stickers on them…lets not even talk about how your game is worth $13 bucks but then they try to sell it for $55 to the next gamer. NOT COOL!

GTA IV DLC First Images!

The much anticipated, much-hyped, oft delayed and costly DLC ($50 million for 2 sets of content) finally has an official release date! This new episode, will be available Feb. 17 2009 exclusively on the Xbox 360.  Looks like we won’t be playing as Niko Belick this go around, the new DLC titled “The Lost and Damned” will put you in the shoes of Johnny Klebitz, a member of Liberty City biker gang The Lost.

I am a huge fan of GTA and have been playing it since the very first incarnation where you dished out sheer amounts of mayhem from a top down view as opposed to a “3D-View”  we’ve all come to love and enjoy and I must say I’m tremendously pumped about the release of this expansion pack.

Enjoy the pics

Los NXE Impressions

Before I drop my impressions on the new NXE, I’d like to give all you readers an official welcome and thanks for visiting us at the Flying Fortress™ as we launch the site. We hope to be an insightful and informative source for you to rely on as we give you real, no bullshit, impressions and feedback. Sit back and take a ride on the Flying Fortress™, and we really hope you’ll stay aboard!

NXE update dropped in the early morning today, and from what I can see so far, it looks like its everything it was hyped up to be. I worried a bit about some minor nuances that might come with an entirely new dashboard, but it looks like MS hit the nail on the head with this one. Menus, for the most part, look like they’re in logical spots and transitions look seamless. Only gripe so far is that the Marketplace layout seems to take some getting used to, but that’s pretty minor considering how well everything else is running.
