NXE update dropped in the early morning today, and from what I can see so far, it looks like its everything it was hyped up to be. I worried a bit about some minor nuances that might come with an entirely new dashboard, but it looks like MS hit the nail on the head with this one. Menus, for the most part, look like they’re in logical spots and transitions look seamless. Only gripe so far is that the Marketplace layout seems to take some getting used to, but that’s pretty minor considering how well everything else is running.
One of the pieces I was looking forward to the most with the NXE was the Netflix integration. It’s really impressive how quick and easy the setup is and how quickly the video comes up on the screen. Regardless of the Sony situation with Columbia Pictures, it doesn’t seem to affect many movies, and you’ll find most 80-90% of the movies on your queue available in most cases. For those other movies, you can always use PlayOn and circumvent the bitchassedness of Sony in this case. I only call it bitchassedness because its not a bitch move to protect your properties outright, but it is a bitch move to wait until the last minute to do so.
In terms of the avatar, setting one up is pretty quick, maybe even quicker than the Mii’s, and seems to offer more customization options than its counterpart. Looks like the Big N might has some competition in store.
I’ll be attempting to make some strides in Fallout 3 today while giving Left 4 Dead some attention, so if anyone wants to help me slay some zombies, you can drop me a line @ GamerTag QueTeImporta31.
Again, thanks for visiting and welcome aboard.
Los Out!
